Birthday wishes for Mom

This card is a bit of a departure for me.  First of all it's one of the trendy "skinny" cards that are hot now, and secondly I stamped in something other than black.  LOL  That sounds really silly since I have a whole drawer full of ink pads, but it's true.  Very seldom have I stamped something on a card in anything but black and I really like how it turned out.
I was inspired by the Mojo Monday sketch for this week and my sweet friend Katie Sims who posted the most amazing card this week for the challenge at Flourishes Timeless Tuesday challenge.  They wanted cards with a stamped image, but no coloring.  GASP!  No Copics????  Could I do it??  Well I gave it a shot and the result is this little card which will be going to my mother on Sunday for her birthday.  That means I can enter this in the "Anything Goes" challenge at Seize the Birthday too.

Here's a close up of the images which are stamps from the "Blossoms and Butterflies" set.

Here are a few more challenges I found to enter:

Simon Says Stamp--pearls
Incy Wincy--birthdays
Catered Crop--good birthdays ( HI LINDA!!!!)
  Catered Crop Recipe Swap Button
Make It Monday--anything goes

     Enjoy your weekend!

Paper--My Mind's Eye "In Bloom", Bazzill, Copic XPress-it Blending card

Stay warm

You know, normally I wouldn't be giving a thought to making a winter themed card at this time of the year, but I believe winter has decided it's going to dig in for good so I'm dedicating this card to all of my crafty friends out there who are having to deal with the snow and ice.
It's Bellarific Friday at Stamping Bella so it's time to reveal the project I created with the sketch Em revealed last week.

Well bless your nest

I think it bears repeating again that I am soooo ready for spring.  That's when all the little peeps like this one will be hatching and happily tweeting away.
I hope you've gotten a chance to play along with the new challenge at SugarPea Designs.  Maybe my card can help inspire you.  I've used part of the main stamp image from the "Tweet Friend" stamp set.

This card was actually my second attempt.  My first card is below.  I just felt like it was too plain so I started over.  I think it would have looked better with the bunnies either recessed or popped up.

Dreaming of the spotlight

We have had two of the most beautiful days and I'm hoping the weather will hold out a bit longer.  It seems totally crazy to go from freezing to balmy in a snap.
Since it's Thursday that means its time for a new challenge at Mo's Digital Pencil.  This week our super talented Franz has asked us to "Add a Ribbon".
For my card I used some beautiful digital papers from Bearly Mine Designs.  My ribbon lacing covered up most of the pretty floral that's hidden underneath.  I've used "Lil Ballerina" and picked some soft RV Copics to color her.  I also dug into my stash of flowers and found the pretty Prima lillies on the side.
We'd love to see your ribbon added creations too.  Make sure you use a Mo's image and come play along.
Next week will bring some exciting news about something called "Bronte and Bella's Playhouse".  You won't want to miss it.
Here is the tiny dancers glamour shot.

Party like a Chihuahua!

Today is my baby girl's birthday.  The big 2-3, which she seems to think is ancient now.  LOL  I was running behind on getting her card made so while she is off gallivanting I got to work on this.  I saw Debra Miller's post this morning about the new 2 Cute Ink challenge.   I have several of the adorable 2CI images and their challenge is a color pallette of red, teal, and brown.  For some reason my browns always look like black in my photos, but I promise it's brown.  In fact it's Bazzill and it's called Mud Pie.  I decided this little guy, called "Party Chihuahua Doggie" was going to grace the front of my card.  Isn't he fun.  I've used the sketch from Mojo Monday.
Off to finish up an almost completed card for Stamping Bella and then it will be time to clean up and start getting ready for dinner.  She put in her order for steak, which her dad will cook when he gets home, baked potatoes, an Outback Bloomin' Onion, and yeast rolls from Logan's.  LOL  I'll be making the rounds this afternoon picking up bits and pieces, but it does sound yummy.
Hope you all have a great day!

Bella Valentine

Haven't seen an Uptown Girl from me in a while have ya.  I just adore these stamps, but haven't had the spare time to play with them.  Well someone has helped me out with that.  Someone named Emily who so sweetly asked begged me to become one of her Stamping Bella Bellarific Babes.  LOL  Now at this time I just couldn't swing being a full time Babe so I'll only be posting a couple of cards a month or maybe more if I can, but I'm excited about the opportunity.
This weeks challenge was a sketch.
sketch-3---Feb-14
I used the lovely "Catherine Nibbling Chocolate" to create this card which will be my daughters Valentine.  She's really into the black, white, and pink color combo so I pulled out some My Mind's Eye papers and found this gorgeous sheet with the pinstripes and lovely pink blossom.  I dressed the blossom up a bit by adding some Diamond Stickles.  I kept the embellies and die cuts in the same color scheme.
Wish I could eat chocolate like this and look like her.  hee hee

Valentine Decor

Hello friends!  For several years now I have been ooohing and ahhhhing over my friend Audrey Pettit's amazing household decorations for the holidays.  Now mine don't hold a candle to hers.  She has an amazing house with lots of room for decorations and I don't, so my display is pretty small.  Thought I'd share it anyway and wish you all a Happy Valentine's Day.
The first photo is a wreath made of vines from the field behind my house.  I made three different styles of felt flowers and tied them onto the wreath with twine so I can reuse the wreath for different events.

Next is my Valentine branch tree.  I already had the medium sized red and pink hearts so I picked up the others this year and added them all to some branches from my yard.

I found the instructions for these amazing felt trees on Pinterest and had a blast making them.  The base is a styrofoam cone and you cut out tons of felt circles and push them into the cone with some hot glue.  You got a sneaky peek of these bare in the photo of my February calendar page.  I added pompom trim to the pink one and some white textured paper hearts and pink bows to the larger red one.

I got a little help from my hubby to get the chunk of tree that I carved our initials in.  I think I need to invest in a Dremel tool and deepen the etching a bit.  I used some chipboard letters from Hobby Lobby to mimic the LOVE statue.  The base is actually a large letter "I".  All pieces were painted and then covered in Triple Thick to seal them.
Simple things, but I enjoyed making them and bringing a little Valentine fun into my home.
Hope you all have a fabulous day of celebrating Love!

Blowin' Bubble Hearts

(I have changed the link for my Facebook page button on the right sidebar
to connect with my new Facebook page.  I'd love it if you would like my
page.  It is strictly for my card and other papercrafting projects.)

After missing making my Mo's Digital Pencil card last week I was chomping at the bit to get busy on this weeks challenge.  Our lovely Lis has given us a theme of "Love is...." which is perfect for Valentine's Day tomorrow or any other lovey dovey time you might need to show someone you care.
The DT has no idea what each other are going to do for our cards until we upload them for Pat and it looks like this pair of bubble blowers was really popular among us.  Franz and I seem to have a bit of am ESP or telepathy thing going cause we've chosen the same image several times, but we weren't the only ones this week.  I'm sure you'll love them all though cause each one is beautiful and unique.  The image is called "Bubble Heart" and can be found in Mo's store along with lots of great images for all occasions.
I don't have a large die cutting machine, just a Cuttlebug, so I can't use those larger sized dies for cool card shapes.  I decided to try to improvise and put my punches to work for me and created a deco edge on the sides of the card base.  Layers, and layers....love my layers, a little piece of doily and some handcut rolled roses for embellishment.
Here's the tag that slides in behind the image panel.

     And here is their closeup.

Copics Used:
skin--E000, E00, E11, E13, R20, R30
hair on girl--E21, E23, E25, E29
hair on boy--E50, E3E, E35, E57

A new FB page

Hello all my crafty friends!  Hope you are all having a wonderful weekend.
When I set up my Facebook page I was totally clueless about all things FB and just set up a basic page.  If I had known at the time that there was a difference between the basic (friend) page and the Like page I would have done it the latter way.
This morning I have created a second page, the Like kind, as an option for those of you who are more inclined to visit and use FB than regular blogging.  As far as my original FB page goes,  I never posted anything personal, just my cards and the occasional sale notice or share.  This second page will be STRICTLY my card and other paper crafting projects and nothing else.
I will continue as usual with my blog and if that's your cup of tea wonderful!  However, if you feel the FB page would be more to your liking please pop over there are click the "Like" button.  I'm only on two DT's at the moment so you won't be getting bombarded with tons of posts.  LOL

I'll be adding a badge to my sidebar with the direct link once I figure out how to do it.  LOL.  Don't use the sidebar FB button I currently have because it's connected to my original page.
     Be blessed and happy crafting!

Cupid draw back your bow

Hello all!  If you missed my earlier post for my Guest Spot at My Craft Spot you can click here.
Several of you have inquired about my earlier health problems and I really appreciate your concern.  I have improved in some ways, but still have days that I am just totally out of commission.  This week has been a rough one and you might have noticed that I didn't have a card posted yesterday for Mo's.  I just couldn't do it.  It's the first time I have missed my Mo post and it felt so wrong but I just couldn't craft.  Thank goodness I was ahead on all the other projects that got posted this week including this card which will be going to my sweet hubby this year.
This fun Cupid is from Art Impression Stamps.  Gotta love them Steve Urkle style pants now.
Those of you who are closer to my age might have picked up on the song lyric in the title.  I haven't zapped you with a "stick in your head" lyric title in a while so enjoy.  hee hee

I hand cut the large hearts and did a lot of distressing.  For embellishments I used the two heart dies from the My Craft Spot Small Alphabet dies set.  One was covered in red Stickles.  I also cut out two sets of "XO" using the same die set and added them to the largest heart.  They are covered with Glossy Accents for some shine.  I used some die cut and punched floral elements and a paper rose with a couple of stick pins from Maya Road.  At the bottom of the card I used a matching pair of the large and small die shapes from the Tiny Banners and Toppers die set to create some hinges.
Couldn't you just pinch those chubby rosy cheeks on this lover boy!

Guesting at My Craft Spot

My Craft Spot

A couple of months back I was blessed to win the challenge at My Craft Spot.  Then I received a double blessing when owner Kim asked me to do a guest spot.  Today's projects are what I created using a great stamp set from My Craft Spot called Pattern Blocks.

The first card I created was this CAS design.  I started with a card base of white and a matting of black.  For the patterned piece I used three of the stamps from the Pattern Block set and stamped them quilt style in three colors of VersaMagic ink.  I added black faux stitching between the blocks with a pen.  For the focal image I stamped a flower and colored it with Distress inks and watercolor pencils on watercolor paper.  A little bit of Stickles was added to the center.  Using a circle die I cut a hole in the quilt pattern and framed it in black.  That whole quilt piece is raised up on foam dots above the image.  The sentiment was stamped onto white.  It comes from the With Deepest Sympathy set.  Lastly I added a bit of ribbon, a bow, and a couple of black buttons.

CAS design is not my strongest suit so I decided to try for something a little more elaborate and came up with this card.

The card base is kraft with a mat of cream.  The Pattern Block set works so perfectly for creating a quilted look that I tried that again with a twist.  Using hexagon dies I cut the larger size out in kraft and the smaller in the cream.  Using two colors of VersaMagic ink I stamped the cream pieces with two of the patterns from the stamp set.  I used a plain sheet of copy paper as a base to piece together the hexagons in a quilt pattern.  I thought it made a lovely background for Kady and her dolly from Mo's Digital Pencil.  As embellishments I've added lace, a ribbon bow, some diecut flowers, pearls, and vellum punched butterflies.

You can find this next card in a separate post here for today.  It uses the  My Craft Spot Small Alphabet dies dies and Tiny Banners and Toppers dies.

A huge THANK YOU to Kim for inviting me as a Guest Designer.  The products from My Craft Spot are top quality and I know I'll use them over and over again---and be adding lots more to my collection.  I hope you enjoyed the cards.
Kim has generously offered to let me give away a stamp set from My Craft Spot, so if you'd like to throw your name in the hat for a drawing to win ONE FREE STAMP SET leave me a comment letting me know what your favorite My Craft Spot stamp set is and I'll choose a lucky winner.
    Happy crafting!
